Graphite & charcoal on paper

I wasn't trying to draw a woman. I was trying to draw stillness. The challenge became letting the shadows carry as much emotion as the features themselves.

Every portrait asks the same question: what makes this face different from every other face? For this one, I found myself coming back to the eyes. Everything else was built around trying not to lose their intensity.

Warrior

Graphite on paper

Not so much about being a warrior, but about the effects it has on the person who has become the warrior. Again the eyes, the intent, the emotion, the coldness masking the humanity, a comparison to the cat's eyes. The same but different.

Some memories aren't sharp. They're soft around the edges. I wanted this drawing to feel like one of those.

A place to think out loud

This is the TBG journal — a place for the working notes that don't fit anywhere else. Research that's still forming. A product decision and the reason behind it. A passage that got cut, and why it was the right call. Less a polished blog than a record of the thinking as it happens.

It's also the source. What gets written here first is what travels out to everywhere else — the newsletter, the socials, wherever the work needs to go. Publish once, here, then let it move.

There's no schedule and no promise of frequency. It'll move when there's something honest to say, and stay quiet when there isn't.
