Ramblings

Silence is golden... unless you're talking about toddlers, and then it's usually time to panic ...!
In my case, it's just busy. Since my last post, I have been:

• in hospital
• working full time with an hour drive each way
• parenting
• working on:
  • "An Odd Romance" (now ~10,000 words)
  • the BPG Philosophy, Principals and now Method
  • working on CareerPivot
• writing lyrics/poetry
• looking to find testers for Sparkles (yes, still looking. Costs nothing, could bring you lots of benefits.)
• drawing (will post soon... maybe!)

and catching up with friends and family.

It's been a little hectic. But so worth it. And I am sure that as I bring these projects to completion, that worth will become apparent to many more people. Maybe even you? Have a flick through the site - chances are you'll find something that interests you. And then, shoot me a message, get in touch. Would be delighted to hear your thoughts and ideas.

It may have taken a while, and I may have a hundred things happening at once, but I'm writing again. With 4500 words in Devil in the Church written and untouched since I returned to employment, I've been writing poems and lyrics and have now started something entirely different for me to build up to getting back to "Devil": a romance novel.

It's called "An Odd Romance" and (not being a reader of the genre) I think it's a little different to most. It's not autobiographical (because I am the very LAST person to look to for relationship success), but it may draw on one or two experiences I've had. In a round-about not-true-to-life way.

Anyway, keep an eye on it. It's planned, plotted and writing has started. 

Along with all my other projects, one thing I really enjoy is watching movies and TV shows. Not maybe the popular ones, and certainly some of the more odd ones. Of particular delight is "making" my oldest child watch older movies. The most recent selection was the 1980 Flash Gordon movie (with a very young Brian Blessed and Timothy Dalton). One of the highlights from this particular movie was quoting parts of the movie, and K1 asking if I really liked it that much (K1 expected it to be far more camp than it is) - and their response when I said no, the songs from the soundtrack by Queen used soundbites from the movie and they were what I was quoting.

It's a really good romp, if you ignore the terrible scripting, 1980 special effects and so on, maybe because it really doesn't take itself too seriously. I believe there was talk of a sequel, but a falling out between director and leading actor ended that.

Oh well. Maybe a remake..?

So this is another blog section. Updates on things I'm building and what stage of release they're up to.

Of course, I'm doing it all sparkly fashion and have logged a bunch of updates prior to creating this blog, so will have to catch them up. Maybe.

I mean, updates generally supersede any preceding update, so....

But, in the name of completeness and making unnecessary work for myself... lol

I really wanted to encapsulate the breadth and depth of emotion many in our (western) society are feeling today with what seems to be an unending string of disheartening events globally.

Over the years, I've had a lot of ideas around different holes that I perceived in various systems/processes/services and so on. Most of them have been just that: ideas. Some have made it beyond that, and then stopped.

Runaround Music Studio is one I am quite fond of, that I will (probably) never go anywhere further with than where I left it. A documented idea with a half-built business plan. In a nutshell, Runaround was a mobile recording studio in the back of a truck (similar to the one in the image to the right), that could/would visit schools and other organisations to provide an introduction to recording studios - but could also be used by unsigned bands to record demos and perhaps even EPs.

I had the vehicle designed, costings done and having run the basic figures, the business looked to be viable. But the initial start-up cost was beyond my means and I didn't feel confident enough in the plan to seek funding.

So I let it go. Let it go. I turned away and slammed the door. Heh. See what I did there? Sorry, not sorry.

Anyway. I thought this would make a good start to my "Ideas" blog. Subsequent posts will be similar - ideas I've had that I never did anything with, and ideas that I have now and into the future that I likely won't do anything with. Maybe someone else will? Who knows....
