Tarra Bulga
OK so I'm a little behind on these, but that's ok. Today was a good one. 160 odd kilometers. Left about 10:00 am, got home a bit before 5:00 pm. Where did I go? Tarra-Bulga National Park! Never heard of it? I'm not unhappy about that. There was no-one there when I arrived - and as I was leaving I saw three other people. Briefly. From a distance.
It was tranquil.
First stop was Tarra Falls - oh, it's rainforest, by the way - massive ferns, massive trees, the only sound was birds (hello lyrebirds) and the water in the streams. The falls aren't massive but oh lordy I could have stayed forever.
Then on to the Corrigan Suspension Bridge. Uh, have I ever mentioned, I don't like heights? Or bouncy bridges that are high up? Still worth it! I crossed that sucker and didn't scream once! I even recorded a little video (ok, it was the second attempt because I may have been too nervous and forgotten to press record the first time).
The bridge was originally built in the late 1930s as a tourist attraction. The current structure was built in the early 1980s (so, it WAS older than me, but it really isn't. It's also more sturdy!) I am grateful for this, because it may not look it, but it's actually close to 30 m above the ground (there's some really BIG ferns below it). Also, to give an idea of that height, the bridge itself is between 30 m and 40 m long.
Then after all of that, back to "civilisation" to catch up with a friend and see the "Little Grave". Disappointing. Not for what it is, but for the lack of care it's had recently. Coffee and home! In addition to the hours of driving, also well and truly exceeded my target 10,000 steps lol
