The Bulletproof Goth is a Melbourne-based creative and product framework. One person. Five movements. A stubborn belief that useful things can also be honest ones.

The name

What "Bulletproof Goth" actually means.

Bulletproof — not invulnerable. Built to take a hit and keep going. The work continues after the hard thing happens, not in spite of the hard thing, but because of what you understand having been through it.

Goth — not an aesthetic. A willingness to look at the difficult, the dark, and the uncomfortable without flinching. The goth sensibility has always been about finding beauty at the edge of things — in grief, in complexity, in what other frameworks would rather not talk about.

Together: a way of working that doesn't pretend the hard parts aren't there, and doesn't stop because of them.

The framework

The five movements aren't steps to follow in order. A project might start in research, move into a product, spin off a piece of writing, and generate revenue — all in the same breath. The framework exists to make that feel like a system rather than chaos.

The work doesn't tell people what they want to hear. It tells them what's true, as clearly as possible, even when the truth is inconvenient or incomplete.

Useful over clever

A tool that solves the problem is better than a tool that impresses. Elegance matters - only when it serves the person using the tool.

Complexity without complication

The hard subjects — grief, neurodivergence, ethics, systemic failure, and more — deserve to be taken seriously, not ignored or swept aside.

Privacy as a default

The tools built here store data on your device, not ours. No accounts where they're not needed. No data collected that doesn't serve you directly. No spam promotional emails.

The person behind it

One framework. One builder.

TBG is the work of one Melbourne-based person operating across software development, research, creative writing, music, and visual art. The neurodivergent profile — ADHD — isn't background colour; it shapes how the work is approached, what problems feel worth solving, and why the tools built here tend to assume that people's minds work differently from each other.

The employment services background — around six years working directly with people navigating disadvantage, complexity, and systems that weren't built for them — runs through everything. It's where the interest in honest, useful tools comes from. And it's why the research tends to ask not just "what is this" but "what does this cost people when we get it wrong."

The creative work — 400-plus drawings, a novel in progress, a self-invented music genre, a philosophy named after a refusal to stop — exists alongside the product work, not separate from it. The same thinking runs through all of it.
